Brand new "Cosmic Neon" series is officially droppin' like it's hot!

Last April, on our way to Palm Springs & Joshua Tree, my son & I made a quick trip to The Neon Museum in Las Vegas for a tour and an afternoon photo shoot. The museum is a non-profit dedicated to collecting, preserving, studying & exhibiting iconic Las Vegas signs for educational, historic, arts & cultural enrichment.

If you've not been, I definitely recommend you make it a point to visit on your next trip to Vegas -- also, be sure you listen to the educational stories the docents have to share! It's worth the time. If you visit, keep in mind that all photos captured there must be done so with permission of the museum, and those who wish to sell their fine art photography captured must pay a licensing fee and schedule a photography session.

Each sign, each story and the whole vibe of this special place reminds me of so many things I love: Americana, Route 66, mid-century modern design, road tripping, wander-lusting, the wild wild west, the promise of new adventures, desert landscapes, and of course, bold color and neon lights. To be able to share it with my son who genuinely seemed to dig the whole experience made it that much more special.

As some of you may already know, we’ve been a homeschooling family for many years. One of our favorite ways to learn, educate and spend quality time together has been by taking fun and educational “field trips” around the U.S. over the years. This recent junket was bittersweet as it will be one of the last we’ll be taking as a homeschooling family. Now that my sweet kiddo is almost all grown up, he’s doing grown up things like working and juggling a very busy schedule. How I already miss the footloose and fancy free days of when we could just hop in the car or a plane on a whim!

At least we have loads of great memories and now, an entire art series to commemorate this memorable adventure!
